The Rebuild-Trust Follow-Up

A short check-in after resolving an issue that turns a bad experience into a loyal customer.

What you'll need

  • A customer whose issue was recently resolved
  • Any AI chat assistant

The steps

  1. Wait a week or two after the resolution.
  2. Paste the prompt and fill in the brackets.
  3. Send a genuine, no-strings check-in.
  4. Note their response — it's often a good sign either way.

The prompt

Write a short follow-up to a customer whose complaint I resolved a couple weeks ago, just to check things are good now.

Customer: [name]
What was resolved: [brief description]
My business: [name]

Under 60 words, genuine and low-key — not asking for anything, not fishing for a review, just checking in. End with an easy way to reach me if anything's still off.

If they respond positively

They said things are great now. Would it feel natural to ask for a review here, or is it too soon? Give me your honest read and, if it's a yes, a soft ask.

What you'll get

A genuine check-in that closes the loop on a bad experience and often turns it into a stronger relationship than before.

If it's not quite right

  • Worried it reopens the issue? Add "Keep this very light — don't reference the specific problem in detail."
  • Multiple customers to follow up with? Add "Give me one template with swap-in details."
